Many apps send your photos and notes to company servers by default. That can be convenient for sync, but it also means another copy of your family’s data exists outside your direct control—and another place where policies or breaches can matter.
Start on the device
Momena starts from your iPhone or iPad. Memories and health notes live encrypted on your device first. You can use the core experience fully offline: capture moments, plan events, and track what matters without handing everything to us.
Optional backup you own
If you subscribe to iCloud Backup, a copy is stored in your iCloud account—not on our servers—so you can restore when you upgrade your phone or add a second device. The subscription is optional; local storage does not require it.
What this means in practice
- Your data’s primary home is the device you hold.
- We do not run a separate cloud vault for your personal content.
- When you choose iCloud Backup, Apple’s infrastructure applies under your Apple ID.
Local-first is not about rejecting the cloud—it is about choosing when and where your family’s information leaves the device.
